Fondazione Rossellini opens Cinema Desk

by

While the Government has yet to confirm refinancing, for 2011, of the tax credit and tax shelter law, the Italian “film system” is proceeding, taking these two new conquests as definitive. “Today, in mid-July, we don’t know if the measures will be renewed. Ours is a serious industry that cannot go on like this, it needs planning”, laments Paolo Ferrari, president of ANICA.

Francesco Gesualdi, president of the Fondazione Roberto Rossellini per l’Audiovisivo agrees: “It is a delicate situation, we’re talking about something that is here today but don’t know if it will still be here in the future.” Gesualdi is also director of the advisory board of the fledgling Cinema Desk that the Fondazione decided to activate in order to facilitate producers seeking public and private financing.

The site offers further access to a series of useful tools, such as the Cinema Lex data banks (of all legal measure regarding cinema and the audiovisual) and Cinema & Finanza (a sophisticated search engine on all types of financing).

Moreover, the Cinema Desk can assist production companies in creating a Presentation Dossier that simplifies relationships with distributors and broadcasters, as well as potential external financiers.

To gain access to the Desk – for now available only to companies and professionals residing in the Lazio and Piedmont Regions, which are promoting and joining to the project, respectively – production companies must be registered with the Ministry of Culture (MiBAC) and ROC (Register or Communications Operators), and have Issued and fully paid-up share capital and a net worth of at least €40,000.
