by French Oscar winner Bertrand Blier and the surprising “bio sustainable” comedy from the US, The Happy Poet, directed by and starring Paul Gordon,.

Panahi – arrested in Tehran on March 2 of this year and released at the end of May – is expected on the Lido and at Venice Days with the non-governmental organization ART for The World (promoters of the portmanteau film THEN AND NOW, beyond Borders and Differences, which includes The Accordion), who express their total solidarity for the Iranian director’s freedom to accompany his film to Venice Days 2010 on September 1.

Yesterday, Panahi said once again that he trusts he will be able to come to Venice, 10 years after winning the Golden Lion that consolidated his international success, for The Circle. “My new short film,” he says, “is an auspice for tolerance and the capacity for comprehension.”
