Bolger reads The Moth Diaries
Ireland’s Sarah Bolger is playing one of the main leads alongside British actor Lily Cole and British born Canadian actor Scott Speedman in Canadian director Mary Harron’s The Moth Diaries.
The Irish/Canadian co-production has commenced principal photography in and around Montreal locations and will continue till October 8. Based on the eponymous cult novel by Rachel Klein, the film is a supernatural thriller set in an elite girls boarding school.
The film’s producers are Sandra Cunningham of Strada Films, Karine Martin of Mediamax (a division of Mediabiz International) and David Collins of Irish production company Samson Films. Executive producers are Edward R. Pressman of Edward R. Pressman Film, Jean-François Doray and Louis-Simon Ménard.
Bolger recently starred opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in hit television series The Tudors, for which she won an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her film credits include director Jim Sheridan’s In America and Joshua Newton’s Iron Cross.
Cole’s first leading role was in Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus [+see also:

film profile], in which she starred alongside Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, and for which she recently garnered a 2010 Scream Awards nomination for Best Fantasy Actress.
Speedman most recently starred in Atom Egoyan’s Adoration.
The Moth Diaries is produced with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, the Irish Film Board, Mediabiz International, Future Films Ltd., the Harold Greenberg Fund and Windmill Lane, Dublin.
Alliance Films in Canada and Lionsgate in the UK will distribute in 2011. Wild Bunch is handling international sales.
