Ruben Genz’s new dark comedy gets DFI backing

Henrik Ruben Genz is bringing another black comedy by Terribly Happy novelist Erling Jepsen to the big screen.

Set in the theatre world, Birollen (“Supporting Role”) is the story of a young woman who does everything possible to grab the attentions of a director she believes is her father.

The film is co-written by Ruben Genz and Maja Jul Larsen and stars Sara Hjort (Love & Rage) and Nicolas Bro. It is currently shooting until November. The delivery date is set for summer 2011.

The film was just awarded DKK 6.5m from the Danish Film Institute. Ruben Genz's previous film, Terribly Happy [+see also:

, was last year's Danish entry for the Academy Awards nominations in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
