Universum signs deal with EuropaCorp
Distributor Universum, a subsidiary of the Bertelsmann group, has signed an agreement for all the media rights (film, television, DVD) to the next 23 productions by Luc Besson’s French company Europacorp (including Eric Bergeron’s A Monster In Paris and Besson’s Arthur and the Two Worlds War) in German-speaking territories (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein).
This three-year agreement could be extended another year. Like all distribution deals, it stipulates the payment of a minimum guarantee which, according to Europacorp’s managers, will provide "significant pre-financing" which reinforces their "investment coverage policy" whilst offering the films great visibility in the countries concerned. Other framework agreements are expected to follow with other European distributors.
