Primexchange Europe-India kicks off in Warsaw

by

Looking into the possibilities of cinematic cooperation between European countries and India is the main objective of the conference-workshop Primexchange Europe-India, which kicks off today in Warsaw and will run until October 16. Subjects in the line-up also include a presentation of Indian cinema’s artistic potential.

Whether it be finding funding and support, distribution channels or co-production partners, the conference is aimed at all those interested in cooperation with directors and film professionals in India. During the workshop, participants will work on concrete feature film projects (a maximum of four) selected by the organisers.

The workshop will be divided into two sessions. Firstly, participants will spend four days in Warsaw (Warsaw Script Meetings) assessing screenplays and the transcontinental potential of projects. This session is organised by PrimeHouse and the Polish Filmmakers Association in cooperation with the Polish Film Institute.

The second part will be a seven-day workshop held in Goa in November. It will focus on the international potential of projects in order to find ways of establishing cooperation and co-production between European and Indian film directors. This November session will be organised in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC).

Participants at Primexchange Europe-India in Warsaw include Nina Lath Gupta (managing director of NFDC), Sunil Doshi (producer and head of movie channel NDTV Lumière), Phil Parker (screenplay consultant and author of The Art and Science of Screenwriting), Frank Stehling (managing director of PrimeHouse), representatives from the Polish Film Institute and Polish Filmmakers Association, as well as many producers who have been invited.
