Norwegian Liverpool Goalie invited to score in Berlin

The Liverpool Goalie, the directorial debut of Norwegian commercials and TV director Arild Andresen, has been selected for the Generation section of the 61st Berlinale (February 10-20, 2011).

Andresen made his name with the TV mini-series Gutta Boys, nominated in 2006 for an International Emmy in the Children and Youth category. Produced by the established company 4 ½ Production with support from the Norwegian Film Institute, The Liverpool Goalie was adapted for the screen by Lars Gudmestad, from Lars Mæhle’s novel Keeperen til Tunisia.

In the comedy, boys and girls play football, glorify their idols and get frustrated over complicated friendships. Up-and-coming teenage actors Ask van der Hagen and Susanne Boucher are flanked by Fridtjov Såheim, Andrine Sæther and Kyrre Hellum.

Released on October 22 in Norway by Euforia Film, the film received four- and five-star reviews from leading national newspapers, including top daily Aftenposten, which called The Liverpool Goalie “the best Norwegian film of autumn, fun both for youngsters and adults.”

Last weekend, the film was number five in the local Top Ten, with over 40,000 total tickets sold so far. Goalie is handled internationally by NonStop Sales.
