Serbian films make their mark at Cottbus

The 20th Cottbus Eastern European Film Festival (November 2-7, 2010) awarded Best Film to Serbian/German/Swedish co-production White White World [+see also:

by Oleg Novkovic, who shared the €20,000 prize with his producer Uliks Fehmu. The jury praised the "bold and unique cinematic language" and "aesthetic skill" of this portrait of the daily suffering of the oppressed.

Another Serbian title, Nikola Lezaic’s Tilva Rosh, about the summer spent by two youngsters in a former mining town, nabbed the IFG Inspiration Award.

also triumphed, winning the Special Prize for Best Director, Best Actress (Éva Gábor) and the Ecumenical Jury Prize.

Dmitry Mamuliya’s Russian title Another Sky also took home three honours: a Special Mention from the International Jury, Best Debut Film and the FIPRESCI Prize.
