NonStop launches I’m Still Here simultaneously on screens and VoD

On December 3, NonStop Entertainment will release Casey Affleck’s controversial film on Joaquin Phoenix, I’m Still Here, simultaneously in Swedish cinemas and on the web via the VoD service Voddler.

The screenings of the US independent film at the current Stockholm Film Festival were quickly sold out so the Swedish distributor took this initiative to offer the widest audience possible a chance to see it as quickly as possible.

“It is really exciting to launch a film so highly anticipated even on the VoD window, and it feels totally natural as there has been so much buzz about it on the net,” said NonStop Managing Director Ignas Scheynius. The distribution company previously tested the simultaneous release on theatrical and VoD in 2008 with Brian de Palma’s Redacted.

I’m still Here will be released theatrically in Folkets Hus och Parkers’ cinemas in Stockholm, Malmö, Gothenburg, and in two other venues. “People’s film and music consumption habits are changing fast, which is why we don’t want to stay still but test new, innovative solutions. We do this to continue to strengthen cinemas in the whole country. Folkets Hus och Parker is one of Europe’s leading digital cinema chains. It feels natural to be innovative also in this area,” said Gunno Sandahl of Folkets Hus och Parker.
