German cinema goes to LA

- Eight features, one documentary, co-productions and an early silent film starring Marlene Dietrich to celebrate AFI 2002

Nowhere in Africa by Caroline Link was selected to open the 3rd edition of the German film festival of Los Angeles, « Made In Germany », scheduled to run from 10-17 November under the AFI fest 2002 umbrella. This American Film Institute event also includes ten German co-productions.
The “Made in Germany” programme includes one documentary and eight feature films including Fritz Baumann’s Anansi, Dominik Graf’s A Map of the Heart (Der Felsen), Andreas Dresen’s Grill Point (Halbe Treppe), Sven Taddicken’s Getting my Brother Laid (Mein Bruder Der Vampir) and Michael Herbig’s Der Schuh Des Manitu (Manitou’s Shoe). A highlight of the festival will be the screening of Three Loves (Die Frau Nach Der Man Sich Sehnt) by Curtis Bernhardt, a silent film made in 1929 starring Marlene Dietrich in one of her first-ever leading roles.
