Film Festival in Stockholm
- 150 films from 40 countries, lots of South American cinema and Ken Loach’s Sweet Sixteen
The annual film festival in Stockholm is to be held 14-24 November, with more than 150 titles from over forty different countries. During the first days of the festival the main emphasis will be on South-American films with the premier screening of the Mexican film Frida with Salma Hayek bringing to the screen the passionate life of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The film will be followed up by the Argentinean film Ciudad de María (Maria´s City), Cuba's Nada+ (Nothing+) and the Brazilian thriller, The Trespasser as well as another Mexican feature curiously called Japón. The French feature Irreversible has created some disputes due to the explicit scenes of violence seen in the film and it is not sure whether it will be screened or not.. 8 women, another French film of a different nature, starring many of the best actresses France has to offer, will also premiere during the during the festival. Ken Loach's latest film, Sweet Sixteen is one of the most eagerly awaited films, as is 11´09´01, the first fiction movie about the attack on the World Trade Centre building in New York.
