- November closing dates for submissions to the world's most important and original film festivals from Europe's Berlinale to America's Palm Springs
Here are the closing dates for the month of November, for you to take part in Festivals throughout the world with your films : full length features, shorts, documentaries, videos.....
Starting with 1st November 2002. You still have a few days left to enrol in the following important events:
In Europe, there’s the Rotterdam Film Festival, which is, by now, a regular appointment for directors and film workers (with the annual Market in co-productions,
CineMart, which brings together producers and funders from all over the world, organised to run in parallel with the main event). The 32nd edition of this Festival takes place from January 22-February 2, 2003. Whereas for short films, you could think about the Barcelona Festival Europeu de Curtmetrages, which focuses on European short films and takes place from February 12-15. The winner will also be receiving a cash prize, equal to Euro 3,000, apart from the other awards. There are also prizes for Best Photography and Best Actor.
Florida plays host to the
Palm Springs International Film Festival, from January 9-20. There’ll be more than 160 films in presentation, many of which are candidates for the Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.
5th November 2002 is the closing date for entries for the 53rd edition of the
Berlin International Film Festival (February 6-16, 2003). The famous German film showcase, directed by Dieter Kosslick, will once again be awarding the famous ‘Orsi’ this year. A side bar event to this festival will be the
Berlinale Talent campus, which is being organised in collaboration with the British Film Council with funding from the Media Programme. From February 10-14, there’ll be more than 500 talented youngsters (directors and producers, but also technicians) who’ll have the chance to meet professionals working in the sector.
On 15th November, is the deadline for entries to two “alternative” festivals:
Overseas there’s the 46th edition of the
San Francisco International Festival, which chooses every spring, new films which have not yet been distributed in America, to show to it’s audiences. There’ll be the ‘Golden Gate Awards’ competition, and in addition there’ll be more than 200 works in the various sections on the programme, including short films, documentaries and films made in video.
Coming back to Europe we have the 17th edition of the
Film Gay & Lesbien. It’s being held in Brussels, and it will be showing films inspired by the theme of homosexuality.
