UK distribution for Mostly Martha
British independent distributor, Optimum Releasing, has bought the UK distribution rights to German director Sandra Nettlebeck’s feature debut, Mostly Martha. Set in a trendy restaurant in Hamburg, Germany, Mostly Marth is the story of how a rigidly controlled and controlling chef called Martha (Martina Gedeck) finds her professional and private worlds turned upside down after she adopts her orphaned niece and falls in love with her fellow chef, a creative and extrovert Italianb played by Sergio Castellito. Martina Gedeck won this year’s German Film Award for her excellent portrayal of Martha and the film was a huge hit in America where it took a reported Dollars 4 million at the box office – a result achieved by just five German films in the last twenty years.
