Von Trier's lead in Manderlay
- Danish director in the US to find female lead for follow up to Dogville
Lars von Trier is in the United States looking for an actress to play the lead in his forthcoming English-language feature, Manderlay, the second of a trilogy of US films. Rumours are circulating that Nicole Kidman, who starred in the first episode Dogville, will also board Manderlay. Interviewed by Danish daily newspaper, “Politiken”, Zentropa’s Aalbaek Jensen said he could not confirm who would play the female lead in Manderlay and put Kidman’s eventual participation into doubt when he pointed out that the protagonists of Manderlay are Afro-Americans. Vibeke Windelov, the producer of Manderlay joined von Trier in the US and confirmed to “Politiken” that nobody has been signed yet.
