On the side of youth
Cined@ys - European Film Heritage Week - will take place throughout Europe from 15 to 24 November. The event features a large number of interesting events.
The Filmoteca Española (Spanish Film Archive) will present Cined@ys: European classics for younger audiences, scheduled to be opened by Pedro Almodovar, the patron of the event that is promoted by the European Commission.
All the films selected were divided into various sections (morning and evening) to allow young and not-so-young audiences to discover or rediscover the masterpieces of European cinema. The selection includes many films about childhood, like Yves Robert’s The Button War, Manoel de Oliveira’s Aniki-Bobo and Cerf-volant du bout du monde, Roger Pigaut’s poetic fairytale based on the works of Meliès and Prévert. The latter has never been seen before in Spain. The programme also includes a good number of classics from the past like Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and Vittorio De Sica’s Bicycle Thieves.
