Mifed ends on a high

by

The 69th edition of Mifed closed in Milan yesterday, 7 November, with a 19 per cent increase in attendance on last year’s edition: 4457 participants from 67 countries, stands representing 251 companies from 27 countries (231 in 2001), 1656 (+20 per cent) companies present and a huge 52 per cent increase in the number of buyers present 1614.
One of this year’s most significant novelties was the increase in Asian participation and their using Mifed to strike pan-Asiatic deals.
Japan and Korea both bought Tinto Brass’ Sense ’45, as did Russia, Turkey, Israel and virtually all of Europe. It was sold by Italy’s Adriana Chiesa Enterprises whose line up also included the following titles: Due amici (Two Friends) by Spiro Scimone and Francesco Sframeli, that was bought by France, Holland, Belgium, Israel, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Erzegovina and Macedonia. Prendimi l’anima (The Soul Keeper) by Roberto Faenza and produced by Elda Ferri, had its world premiere at Mifed and was sold to more than 20 countries.
There was a huge amount of interest in a number of new films like the eponymous La leggenda di Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo (The Legend of Al, Jack and John); Luca Barbereschi’s Il Trasformista (The Chameleon) and Daniele Lucchetti’s Dillo con parole mie.
