Carlo Rolla, one of the most active and well-known TV directors in Germany, received the Best Direction prize at the 15th Tokyo International Film Festival (26 October–4 November) for his feature film, SASS.
The film, about two brothers who were also notorious gangsters in Berlin during the 1920s, was screened in the German Cinema section at the 2002 Berlinale and also at the EuropaCinema - Viareggio International Film Festival 2002.
Meanwhile Class Trip by Henner Winckler won the Grand Prix Cinéma Tout Ecran for best direction at this year’s International Film & Television Festival Cinéma Tout Ecran in Geneva (21 – 27 October).
Earlier this year Class Trip was well received at the Forum section of the 2002 Berlinale, the German Panorama section at Karlovy Vary and also at the German Panorama at the 18th Warsaw International Film Festival.
The “Cinéma Tout Ecran“ festival aims to link the world of cinema to television by showing qualitatively outstanding films produced by or for television on the cinema screen.
