This 18-screen theatre has a 4,200 seating capacity and can programme up to 25 films per week.
Valladolid brings the number of UGC theatres present in Iberia to 42, with plans already underway for a fourth 18-screen multiplex to open in the spring of 2003 in Algerciras. Next year will also see ground-breaking at new sites in Seville (a 24-screen, 5,400 multiplex), Valencia (16 screens), Malaga (18 screens) and Alicante (16 screens), with a huge 20-screen multiplex scheduled for the northern outskirts of Madrid.
UGC is a very strong presence in key cities in France and the UK, and Guy Verrecchia’s company is planning to « colonize » Ireland, Belgium and Italy. In 2001, UGC theatres welcomed more than 58 million filmgoers.
