An important victory for Finnish cinema in Spain. A Finnish film entitled Cyclomania by Finland’s Simo Halinen won the Golden Giraldillo Award and Euros 30,000 for this story of two friends who work as couriers and, in their spare time, share a passion for cycling.
The festival, dedicated exclusively to films of a sporting flavour, ended on 10 November and was a huge popular success. Velocità Massima, the directorial feature debut of Italy’s Daniele Vicari walked off with the Silver Girardello and Italian actor, Toni Servillo won the best actor award for his performance in Paolo Sorrentino’s Extra Man.
