- Opening cerimony at Copenhagen for the European cinema's week. Screenings of European masterpieces

From 15 to 24 November European cinemas, cinémathèques and television stations will be showing European film classics in conjunction with Cined@ys.
As Denmark is currently EU chair the country is also hosting the opening ceremony, which has taken place at the DFI Cinematheque, Copenhagen on Thursday 14 November, attended by Viviane Reding, European Commissioner responsible for Education and Culture, and Brian Mikkelsen, the Danish Minister of Cultural Affairs and Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar as its patron.
Cined@ys has been arranged on the initiative of the EU Commission, this campaign on behalf of European cinema is particularly aimed at the younger generation, with a view to increasing their interest in European film, which has been forced to cede ground to the huge numbers of US movies over the last few decades.
The DFI Cinematheque in Copenhagen is showing ten of the finest films from the last 75 years, while other cinemas, Biffen in Ålborg and Øst for Paradis in Århus have also scheduled ten films.
The national television channel DR2 will be broadcasting three heavyweights from the history of European cinema on 15 December and the next two days: Wild strawberries by Ingmar Bergman, La Dolce Vita by Federico Fellini, Les enfants du Paradis by Marcel Carné.

Media Desk Denmark will host on the 15 November, the seminar “Multimedia Training in Europe” where there will be a presentation of EU Media supported training initiatives in the field of multi-media.
