Seduction wins in Turin
“For its overwhelming sensuality”. This was the main reason why the jury of the 20th Turin Festival Cinema Giovani selected the French-Algerian film Satin Rouge by Raja Amari as the best in its category of “International Full Length Films”. The film tells of a young widow who, while following her daughter whom she believes to be in danger, suddenly finds herself in a leading role in the gay world of a cabaret.
The jury, which included Curtis Harrington, Olivier Père, Richard Lormand, Aldo Nove e Bruno Roberti, presented the young Tunisian director with a 20,500 euro cash award, declaring her film to be “brimming with a feminine sensitivity that she used masterfully to enhance the interior aspects and physicality of her characters.”
