- Elinor Day, the producer of UK Oscar contender The Warrior sets up own company
Elinor Day, formerly deputy head of production at Film Four, has launched her own production company, Light Club.
During her Film Four years, Day oversaw the production of over a dozen films including hits like East Is East, Gangster Number One, Lucky Break and this year’s UK Oscar contender, The Warrior.
Light Club struck an umbrella deal with Box Film (headed by former Channel 4 Drama chief Gub Neal), under which Light Club will give Box Film a first option on their productions in return for Box Film agreeing to cover the overheads.
By virtue of its own first-look deal with Intermedia, Box Films provides the production and sales entity access to new, quality British projects. Commenting on the deal, Basil Iwanyk, president of worldwide production at Intermedia said, “Elinor Day’s deal with Box Film in the UK enhances our ambition at Intermedia to work with the best filmmaking talent in the UK. We aim to use our close working relationship with Box Film to make distinctive features for the widest possible market out of Europe”.
