Europa Cinemas is 10 years old

- Tonight in Paris, Viviane Reding will present the "Europa Cinemas" awards to the 1000-member network's most dynamic exhibitors

Paris is celebrating Cined@ys and the 10th anniversary of Europa Cinemas. After her meeting with the French Minister for Culture Jean-Jacques Aillagon at the National Library, Viviane Reding, the European Commissioner for Culture & Education will present awards to the two most dynamic theatres of the 1,119-theatre network of the 51 Europa Cinemas member-countries.
Enrique Perez, the manager of the Verdi Cinema in Barcelona (9 screens and annual ticket sales of 600,000) will receive the Best Programming award while Belgium’s Jean-Marie Hermand who runs the Parc de Liège and Churchill (4 screens and 300,000 tickets sold) wins the Best Entertainment award.
Set up eight years ago under the presidency of French film director, Claude Miller, Europa Cinemas will also hold its annual general conference during the three-day anniversary celebrations before industry experts like film director Agnès Jaoui (Le gout des autres), CNC DG David Kessler and Bertrand Delanoё, the mayor of Paris. The programme includes a number of meetings during which the network’s exhibitors can meet and learn about the latest innovations in the fields of distribution strategy, the evolution of digital technology, the impact of education on image, and what’s in the pipeline for Media Plus, Eurimages and Euromed Audiovisual.
