Premieres at “Entre Vues”
The 17th edition of Entre Vues, the festival for first, second or third-time films opened in Belfort, France on 23 November. The programme is scheduled to run until 1 December and includes a competitive section with 16 features, 17 shorts and 14 documentaries from all over the world. “Entre Vues” provides young filmmakers with an excellent launch-pad and it was here that filmmakers like Nicolas Philibert, Laurent Cantet and Patricia Mazuy first came to prominence.
The programme is also a celebration of the history of film with a special event entitled “A toutes allures” that will explore the subject of speed in cinema by screening 38 films dating from 1907 to the present day and directed by cineastes like Jean-Luc Godard, Jean Epstein, Joris Ivens, Carl Theodor Dreyer, Roberto Rossellini with India and Michelangelo Antonioni with Zabriskie Point.
This year’s festival also includes three retrospectives dedicated to contemporary artists like film director,Michael Cimino, and actors Denis Lavant (les amants du Pont-Neuf and Béatrice Dalle.
