Reali directs Verso il Nord
- Currently in post-production, a road movie about the illegal commerce of minors in Italy and beyond, starring Maurizio Mattioli and Ana Papadopulu
Stefano Reali travelled the length and breadth of Italy, visiting regions as different as Puglia, Rome, Piedmont and even Chiasso, during the making of his latest film Verso il Nord. The road movie about the illegal trafficking of children has wrapped and is in post-production.
Produced by Gianlo’s Film,
Lantia and Raicinema, the story dates back a decade when Reali made a documentary in Puglia about juvenile crime. “ In 1995 I wrote a screenplay about the illegal trafficking of children where they were transported en masse in lorries but nobody believed this possible then.”
Maurizio Mattioli plays Mauro, a Rome-born male nurse who moonlights by agreeing to accompany a juvenile illegal immigrant across the Italian border. Mattioli first worked with Reali in Barca a vela contromano. Reali’s cast also includes Ana Papadopulu and Valerio Foglia Manizllo.
