Portuguese minister for culture, Pedro Manuel da Cruz Roseta, has appointed university professor Elisio Cabral de Oliveira to the presidency of the national film, audiovisual and multimedia institute, ICAM. De Oliveira replaces Pedro Berhan da Costa who resigned last week after being accused of incompetence by the ICAM board and by Portuguese industry representatives who say that ICAM owes them some Euros 10 million in unpaid advertising taxes.
De Oliveira’s deputy is Maria Teresa Simoes Loureiro, a former close collaborator of the cultural affairs office of Lisbon’s municipality.
