- Athens pays homage to the late great Russian director on what would have been his 70th birthday

The Greek Film Centre has organised a tribute to one of the last century’s most prominent exponents of the 7th art, the late Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky on what would have been his 70th birthday. The event is scheduled to take place 6-12 December.
Tarkovsky’s body of work is a reflection of his personal spiritual odyssey and his films cover important moral and metaphysical issues. A characteristic of his films is the presence of water, the spiritual presence of the mother-figure and nostalgia.
The titles being screened in Greece are Ivan’s Childhood, Andrei Rublev, Solaris, The Mirror Stalker, Nostalgia and The Sacrifice.
