Last night (Dec 3), during the annual ceremony/film quiz show organised by the Oscar Moore Foundation in London, Irish scriptwriters Jason and Brendan Butler received the 2002 Oscar Moore Screenwriting Prize for their comedy Ton of Money.
The winning script was selected by a panel of acclaimed industry professionals including UK producers Eric Fellner (Dead Man Walking), Duncan Kenworthy (Bridget Jones), Scott Meek (Velvet Goldmine), and international sales agent Wendy Palmer.
The award includes a cash prize of GBP10,000 (Euros15,000), a placement on Arista’s European Residential Development Workshops, and a performed reading of the winning script by the Script Factory. Previous script readings were performed by actors Christopher Eccleston, Stephen Fry, Irene Jacob and Emily Watson.
The Oscar Moore Foundation was created in 1997 as a charitable screen-writing trust administered by film trade publication Screen International in memory of its former editor-in-chief Oscar Moore who died in 1996.
