Roma, not only Europe

European cinema is the special guest of the 7th edition of the Roma Film Festival. Directed by film critic and director, Edoardo Bruno and promoted by the Municipality of Rome, the event is scheduled to run from 10-19 December at the Nuovo Olimpia Cinema.
Roma Film Festival will open with the screening of a thriller, Ginostra by French director, Manuel Pradal, produced by Canal+ and Urania Film with an international cast headed by Andie MacDowell, Harvey Keitel, Francesca Neri, Stefano Dionisi and Asia Argento.
The programme includes a large selection of French movies like Cédric Klapisch’s L’auberge espagnole, a comedy about four students on the Erasmus Programme, one of whom is played by Audrey Tautou and Nicolas Philibert’s documentary Etre et Avoir about the life of a French teacher. Etre et Avoir was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. The programme also includes Entering indifference by Vincent Dieutre; Au Pays du Chien qui Chante by Yann Dedet - François Truffaut’s film editor and Dans ma peau, a comedy about one woman’s self-destructive tendencies starring and directed by Marina De Van - the protagonist of Sitcom, Regarde la mer and joint screenwriter of François Ozon’s 8 Women and Sous la sable.
The Spanish contingent includes Pablo Garcia’s documentary , Fuente Alamo, la carica del tiempo, Portugal is sending Jorge Silva Melo with Antonio, un rapaz de Lisboa, Holland Peter and Petra Lataster-Czich with Geluk is als glas (Fragile happiness and Italy’s Carlo Luglio will present his Italo-Norwegian co-production entitled Capo Nord.
Roma Film Festival retrospectives will feature the work of Brazilian experimental filmmaker, Julio Bressane and Italy’s pre-eminent character actor Alberto Sordi. All screenings are free.
