- Norwegian and Belgian short films beat 41 competitors, with latest genre trends showcased in sidebar event

The twentieth edition of the Festival of Aix-en-Provence ended on Saturday 7 December. Traditionally the launching ground of now-famous directors like Matthieu Kassovitz , François Ozon and Cédric Klapisch, this year’s programme showcased 41 short films from 25 countries, including this year’s winners of the short film competition: Norway’s Pjotr Sapegin, winner of the Gran Prix with Aria and Belgium’s Inès Rabadan who won the jury’s special prize for Maintenant.
Aside from the main competition, the programme included a sidebar section called Touts Courts that reflects the latest trends from the various countries taking part. The event was organised with Austrian production and distribution company, Sixpack, Germany’s Oberhausen film festival and the Belgian Institute of Arts.
The two feature-length films that respectively opened and closed the festival, Jean-Pierre Limosin’s Novo and Emanuele Crialese’s Respiro were very well received.
