Tribute to Tarkovskij

As well as a retrospective of his films, the tribute to Russian director Andrei Tarkovskij, organised by the International Relations for Culture, the Byzantine Museum of Athens and the Tarkovsky Foundation of Moscow, alsoo includes an exhibition about his life and work, a 2-day International Symposium and a musical event called "Testimonies". All these events will take place at the Byzantine Museum of Athens.
The exhibition includes portraits of Tarkovskij, photographs of his mother - she appears in several of his works - and other members of his family, as well as previously unseen set photos that help portray the director’s life and and help visitors to discover the man behind the camera.
The parallel event, "Testimonies" takes place on Monday, 9 December. Actors Tamila Koulieva and Dimitris Kataleifos will read texts by Andrej Tarkovskij and poems by his father, Arseny Tarkovskij, in Greek and Russian, and accompanied by selected works of music. The texts include the essence of Andrej Tarkovskij's philosophy and illustrate his views on issues such as art, man, nature and god.
