Besson bets his stakes on turbulence

- La turbulence des fluides by Manon Briand is released today in France, following success in film festivals worldwide. It was love at first sight for Luc Besson, who co-produced it

La turbulence des fluids, Canadian director Manon Briand’s second full-length film, is being released on Wednesday, November 11. The film, which was produced by Luc Besson and his Europa Corp, will be open in 80 French cinemas.
The feature-length film is interpreted by Pascale Bussieres, Julie Gayet, and Genevieve Bujold and will arrive in French cinemas along with an excellent reputation earned during the numerous events in which it competed. The film opened the last Montreal Cinema Festival and was heartily welcomed by the 2002 AFI Festival in Los Angeles. It went on to win the City Grand Prix at the Festival of Sarlat on November 9, as well as a splendid triple crown (Grand Prize, Audience Prize, and Dealer’s Prize) at the International Festival of Music and Cinema on November 17. La turbulence des fluides had absolutely no trouble selling itself to international buyers.
Luc Besson was won over by Briand’s first film, 2 seconds, which made a clean sweep of prizes at the 1998 Montreal Festival. Now he’s placing his stakes on the Canadian director by having produced and distributed this new film with his company, EuropaCorp Distribution. Besson had no qualms about spending nearly 500 thousand Euros to promote the film.
