Luc Besson has given Euros 5.5m to The Lake, a new film project that is scheduled to be filmed in Norway in April 2003.
The script was written by two young Norwegian film directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandenberg. While working for Besson’s production company, the pair of newcomers got to show the famous French director a script they had written for a film in English. Besson liked the story and decided to produce Ronning and Sandenberg’s debut film, chipping in a generous amount that was double or triple the amount the Norwegian Film Fund usually allows for such projects. The Lake, which is based on a true story, tells a story of a group of six young people who take a trip together. The trip suddenly turns into a nightmare when one of them turns up dead. The project is scheduled to be filmed in Norway with a Norwegian crew and actors in main and supporting roles, along with actors from England and France.
