Duran Duboi to sell its cinema sector

by

The European leader of audio post-production for full-length feature films and renowned masters of special digital effects, Duran Duboi, has just announced that it intends to sell its entire group of cinematographic services.
That means we’ll be seeing “For Sale” signs on the Joinville and Boulogne sound studios, where most French directors and the greatest names in world cinema have worked: Annaud, Bertolucci, Chabrol, de Oliveira, Ivory, Kassovitz, Kusturica, Lelouch, Polanski Tavernier. These are post-production auditoriums that have done their part in winning numerous Oscars, Golden Palms, and Golden Lions. The reasons for this sale can be found in a reduction of business this year – the first time this has ever happened in the group’s history. During 2001/2002, Duran Duboi recorded a turnover of more than 36 million Euros, which was offset, however, by a 5 million Euro increase in liabilities, payable over three years. This financial burden hastened the decision to sell in order to concentrate on television and advertising activities in the booming 3-D animation market, where Duran Duboi are will soon be debuting with La femme piège by Enki Bilal.
