FUNDING Sweden

Additional money on its way

by

- The government supports the film production with additional Euros8.8M and the subsidy for cinema reaches 25 millions

The Swedish Government announced last week that the additional Euros8.8 million support, promised before election, for the Swedish film production is on its way. Half of the money will be for the audience-related subsidy with Euros1 million reward for any local film taking 200,000 admissions, domestically making it difficult for the Swedish Film Institute’s deputy director Peter Hald to estimate the final amount for this support.
The other half of the Euros8.8 million will be destined to new features (Euros2.2 million), shorts and documentaries, films for children and young audiences (each Euros1.1 million). A film contract will be established between the Swedish government and the industry to include the additional grant which this year releases Euros25.4 million subsidy to cinema in Sweden.
