“I play a wife who’s in love, but in the future I would like a role as a dark lady.” Ornella Muti, who is now a guest in Courmayeur for the Noir in Festival with director Lucas Belvaux, talks about her role in Un couple épatant, the first part of an ambitious cinematographic project written and directed by the Belgian director. The trilogy now being presented at the “Festival del Noir” also includes Cavale and Après la vie, and has been created to unfold through three different genres: a light and amusing comedy, in which the Italian actress stars, followed by a thriller and a melodrama.
“I play a wife and mother who faces her daily problems, joys, and fears,” said Muti. “Lucas wrote the part just for me. I found it very challenging and accepted immediately.” Having finished Lo Zio d’America, the successful 8-episode television series made for RaiUno Italian television, Muti mentions her upcoming projects, even if she emphasizes that she prefers not to say too much - “because cinema doesn’t allow for speculation. I would also prefer to enjoy the present. This presentation of Lucas’ film was a first for me as well. I would just like to savor the moment. It would be nice to stop and admire what we’ve done instead of thinking immediately of the future”.
