CONFERENCES France

A European round table for Artists

by

Actors expressed concern over upcoming changes brought to light during the third edition of European Meeting of Artists, organized by Adami in Cabourg from December 12th to 14th.
This major event was sponsored by the President of the Republic Jacques Chirac and united more than 300 professionals (actors, musicians, producers, jurists). The various debates served to call attention to the issues that the artists intend to raise during 2003: the concentration of production companies and tendency of the cinematographic industry to monopolize at the cost of creative pluralism, the safeguarding of copyrights now being infringed upon through the renting and distribution of videos, and the protection of cultural diversity in consideration of international trade laws. This year’s “Homage to Actors” award was presented by Sandrine Bonnaire to Danielle Darrieux and Serge Reggiani, who were selected by a jury that included such members as Andréa Ferréol, François Berléand, Lio, Maria Schneider, Elsa Zylberstein, and Philippe Torreton.
