French production company, Productions du Trésor has entered the feature film production arena with Mon Idole (My Idol), the directorial debut of popular young French actor Guillaume Canet. Mon Idole is released today onto 300 screens nationwide.
Set up in 1996 by Alain Attal, “Les Productions de Trésor” began with short films before taking a chance on the popularity and talent of Guilaume Canet, famous in France for having starred in films like La Plage and Vidocq. “Les Productions du Trésor” was made with a Euros3 million budget, and co-produced by M6 Films, Caeneo Films, Pendrake Films, Nord-Ouest Productions e Mars Films whose subsiduary, Mars Distribution, played a decisive role in increasing the number of prints of Mon idole being released.
Attal’s company has every intention of building on this success and its second feature, Narco directed by French advertising duo Tristan and Gilles (son of Claude Lelouch), will go into production in the summer.
