BVI release Irish short for Xmas

by

Buena Vista International (BVI) is giving Irish filmgoers an opportunity to see the highly acclaimed Irish short film drama, Tubberware, scheduled for release onto 15 screens nationwide on 20 December together with the Hollywood feature, Sweet Home Alabama.
Written and directed by Paul Mercier and produced by brothers Fiach and Cuán Conghaíl, Tubberware takes a satirical look at plans to promote the Irish language. The 15-minute comedy was commissioned by broadcaster TG4 as part of a joint venture with the Irish Film Board who intend developing a number of short film dramas in Irish (Gaellic).
Proinsias Ní Ghráinne, TG4 Commissioning Editor said, “Obviously, TG4 wishes to commission and develop the best Irish drama for broadcast in its schedule, but we also work in conjunction with the Irish Film Board to seek cinema showings for film. This production is ideal for that purpose - it is short, sharp and will raise a smile for Christmas cinemagoers in Ireland”.
