Harriet Andersson at NatFilm Festival
- Sweden's legendary film icon, discovered by Ingmar Bergman, will celebrate her half-century in cinema at the Copenhagen event from 28 March to 6 April
Legendary Swedish film actress Harriet Andersson is the special guest of honour at this year’s Nat Film Festival in Copenhagen from 28 March to 6 April. Andersson won iconic status after starring in Ingmar Bergman’s 1953 Sommerin med Monika (Summer With Monika). As a result, she was cast in many of Sweden’s most important films - including three more Bergman films, each of which will be screened at the festival – and attained cult status in the national industry. Even after fifty years in the acting business, her career shows no signs of flagging. Andersson’s most recent films include a Danish production called Sladder directed by Colin Nutley, and Lars von Trier’s Dogville, where she co-stars opposite Nicole Kidman.
The 2003 Nat Film Festival programme includes some 150 films ranging from European productions, Japanese gangster movies, spiritual films from the Middle East and Bollywood titles.
