Penny Panagiotopolulou’s directorial feature debut, Hard Goodbyes : My Father (Diskoli apocheretismi: O babas mou), is a big domestic hit. To date some 35,000 Greek filmgoers have seen its young star, Yorgos Karayannis play a boy coming to terms with his father’s death. The film is also about the socio-political changes that Greece experienced in the 1960s.
Yorgos Karayannis won the best actor award at last year’s Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.
