Cinecittà: a desperate undertaking
The director Pupi Avati has spoken about his decision to accept the role as president of Cinecittà Holding. He was speaking on the occasion of the premiere of his new film, Il cuore altrove, which is being held in Bologna. Avati explained why he took up this new appointment "Above all I accepted it because the minister put forward a desperate enterprise to me: to bring the Italian public closer to Italian cinema in the next 3 years. If the disenchantment is turned around, I would be able to be satisfied. As far as everything else is concerned, I’d prefer not to talk about it, I’m looking back over the past but I won’t be making any judgements. It’s not the done thing to start off a job by criticising the people who came before. In any case, my profession isn’t being president of Cinecittà Holding, it’s making films".
