“Bloody Sunday” scoops 4 IFTA Awards

Bloody Sunday produced by Hell’s Kitchen and Granada Films, and directed by Paul Greengrass won four of the most important Irish Film and Television Awards IFTA: best film, director, screenplay (Paul Greengrass) and sound (Albert Bailey).
The awards ceremony took place on Sunday 17 January.
Colin Meaney won the best actor award for How Harry Became a Tree while Elaine Cassidy won the best actress accolade for Disco Pigs. Give Up Yer Aul Sins, produced by Brown Bag, won best animated film and US Boys, produced by Igloo Films, won best single documentary. Eleven of the wining films received financial support from the Irish Film Board.
The IFTAs are presented every two years and the winners are selected by the votes cast by members of the Irish film and TV industry and are Ireland’s equivalent of the Oscars.
