A very rewarding 2002

- A record year for Norwegian cinema with 101 awards won the world over. The best performing titles were 2 kids titles: Glasskår and Aria, & Elling

According to a report published by the Norwegian Film Institute, domestic productions had a record-breaking 2002 with a total of 101 international awards from a variety of festivals. A total of 28 were won by features, 22 by documentaries, 44 by short films and 7 went to films made by students of the Lillehammer Film School. The best performer was Anita Killis’ Tornehekken, a short animated film about children in wartime. Although Elling [+see also:

had the highest international profile, the feature that won the most prizes (11 – including the Glass Bear and the Children’s Jury Grand Prix at the 2002 Berlin Film Festival) was Glasskår a familial drama by Lars Berg II. Another short cartoon, Aria also won 11 awards. Alt om min far a documentary by Even Benestads won 9 awards while Jeg er Dina by Ole Borneals and Procter by Joachim Trier won four each.
