RELEASES France

Record release for Taxi 3

by

- The third episode of the hit series, Taxi, produced by Luc Besson and directed by Gérard Krawczyk to hit a record-breaking 1040 French screens

Today, 29 January, the third part of the Taxi saga is scheduled for release onto 1040 French screens, breaking the previous record held by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Produced by Luc Besson’s Europa Corp (incidentally, Besson also wrote the screenplay), the third installment of the adventures of a Marseille-based taxi cost Euros14.5million to make. Co-produced by ARP and TF1 Films et Productions, it was not hard to close the presale deal for Taxi 3 with premier French pay-TV, Canal+ who forked out Euros5.3million, and terrestrial TV TF1, who paid Euros2million for the privilege of airing this film. The first two episodes scored record viewing numbers: when they aired on TF1, the first film attracted an audience of 12 million and the second 10 million. When the same films were aired on Canal+, they outperformed all other French films broadcast in the same years.
Taxi 3 sees the return of director Gérard Krawczyk and actor Samy Naceri, who co-stars with Frédéric Diefenthal and Marion Cotillard. There can be little doubt that Taxi 3 will accelerate straight to the number one box office slot. Taxi was seen by 6.4million French filmgoers and a further 2.2million abroad while Taxi 2 bettered that with 10.3million domestic entries and a further 5 million in seven other territories.
