Three titles represented by Cologne-based seller The Match Factory have been selected in competition at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival (February 10-20, 2011).

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Andres Veiel’s narrative feature debut If Not Us, Who?, starring August Diehl, Lena Lauzemis and Alexander Fehling (recently chosen for Shooting Stars 2011), will screen in world premiere. Produced by zero one film, the film recounts the love affair of Bernward Vesper, son of writer Will Vesper, in the early 1960s, at the dawn of Germany’s terrorist era.

Seyfi Teoman’s Our Grand Despair, co-produced by Germany (unafilm), the Netherlands (Circe Films) and Turkey, will also be presented in world avant-premiere, competing for the Golden Bear alongside Veiel’s film. The title centres on two good friends who fall in love with the same woman.

Finally, the competition will host Miranda July’s German/US film The Future, presented in international avant-premiere (after a screening at Sundance in January).
