, French director Olias Barco’s has announced that he wants to set his new project in the Eternal City.

The title and subject have already been decided. “In Roma Victor I will tackle the relationship between sex and politics. We in France have our problems related to this, as do you in Italy. Besides, our president is married to an Italian!” said Barco, in Rome to promote Kill Me Please, a very dark, B&W comedy on euthanasia, coming out January 14 in Italy through Archibald Enterprises on 25 screens.

What led him to choose Rome? “It’s a fascinating and difficult city, whose nighttime charm I discovered during the festival. I already knew the city, but I want to get to know it even better. Shooting a film here will give me that chance,” he added. The director will also look for an Italian producer for the project.

Besides Virgile Bramly and the irrepressible Zazie De Paris (who closes Kill Me Please singing the French national anthem), the new film’s cast will also include Italian actors, perhaps Asia Argento and Sergio Castellitto, who was president of the 2010 RIFF jury that last November awarded the director the Marc’Aurelio prize.
