FIFF gets new director
After French journalist and film professional Edouard Waintrop was appointed head of Genevan cine-club CAC-Voltaire, the Freiburg International Film Festival (FIFF), of which he was director, had to look for someone to fill his place.
The new director is Thierry Jobin, a journalist and film critic at French-language Swiss daily Le Temps. Jobin, who studied arts and humanities at Freiburg University, will take up his post in May.
For his part, Waintrop will completely oversee FIFF’s 25th edition, to be held from March 19-26, 2011. As a reminder, the event focuses on so-called films “from the South”, a concept that has broadened over the years.
