Four Frenchmen in London

The French Institute in London has organised a review of recent Gallic productions at its ‘Ciné Lumière’ Cinema. Opening Shots, scheduled to run from 7-19 February, will feature titles that have not (yet) been picked up by British distributors.
Four upcoming French directors will present their latest films to a London audience, starting on 7 February with 23-year-old Jérôme Bonnell and his directorial debut Le Chignon d’Olga, about a family coming to terms with the mother’s recent death.
Christophe Ruggia, accompanied by Adèle Haenel and Vincent Rottiers, the stars of his second feature, Les Diables, will follow. This film was one of Time Magazine’s 10 best films of the year.
Julie Lopes-Curval, winner of the Caméra d’or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for her feature debut Bord de mer, will follow, and Claude Duty will close the event with a Q&A session at the Ciné Lumière after the screening of his Filles perdues, cheveux gras, a stylish musical comedy starring Amir Casar, Olivia Bonamy and Sergi Lopez.
Launched in 1998, Ciné Lumière is an important showcase for the best of French, European and world cinema. In 2000 it joined the Media Programme’s Europa Cinema Network.
