The Committee on Culture and Education of the European Parliament , chaired by German MEP Doris Pack, has approved the LUX Prize 2011 Selection Panel.

With five new members added to last year’s list, the panel is now composed by LUX Prize 2011 winner Feo Aladag; Jose Luis Cienfuegos, Director of the Gijon Film Festival; Christophe Leparc, Secretary-General of the Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes International Film Festival; Per Ericsson, Responsible for Education and Teaching at the Swedish Film Institute; Eva Zaoralova, Film critic and Artistic Consultant at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival; Gyorgy Báron, President of the Hungarian Film Critics’ Association; Catherine Buresi, deputy director of the European Film Market for the Berlinale; Marion Doring, director of the European Film Academy; Kristen Dalgaard, distributor and co-president of the NatFilm International Film Festival; Stephan De Potter, distributor (Cinéart); Michel Demopoulos, film critic; Fatima Djoumer, head of International relations at Europa Cinéma; Jakub Duszynski, distributor (Gutek Film); Nick James; editor of the magazine Sight & Sound; Georgette Ranucci, distributor (Lucky Red); Mira Staleva, programmer at the Sofia International Film Festival.

Aviva Silver, MEDIA Programme Head of Unit, and Roberto Olla, Executive Director of the Eurimages, are observers on the LUX Prize Selection Panel, while Yvon Thiec (EUROCINEMA) is the panel’s Honorary Member.

The meetings of this selection panel will take place at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels on March 24, April 14 and June 1. The Selection Panel will discuss on and select the ten films which will be part of the Official Selection, and among these ten, the three films of the Competition.

film profile] (2010), the 2011 winner will get financial support from the European Parliament consisting of subtitling into the 23 official languages of the European Union, including an adaptation of the original version for visually or hearing-impaired people; and a 35mm print per EU member state or support for the subsequent DVD release.
